After the success of Digg it seems that everybody and their dog have decided to have a go at a Digg format clone. Every possible angle seems to have been covered without any being very successful. Of the top of my head I can’t think of any that have made an significant impact? This could change with the creation of www.economonkey.com

What Is Economonkey

Besides being a word that is really hard to type, it’s also the name of the latest Digg clone, this time aiming at the British finance market. You are looking at a membership of people all interested in the UK finance sector posting articles, voting and burying news to keep the most relevant tit-bits at the top. Perhaps the one thing that seperates this effort from many of the others is the design, it looks like a professional site. They have obviously found a very talented designer and that investment should pay dividends over the long term.

What Are The Chances

Good. The man behind the idea (LC) is a social marketing expert. He is paid to promote businesses through online social networking and so if you could expect anybody to make this type of project work it would be somebody with those sorts of credentials. That’s what makes this idea so worth watching, if there is any mileage left in the Digg format then this could be one very good way of finding out. Personally I wish him all the best with it.
