Just a quicky – despite naturally being spikey and to be honest, a bit of a grumpy old man in training, I actually like getting comments! I know I get my fair share but I’ve just gone back through my Akismet spam for the last week and there were plenty of genuine comments in there (which I’ve now approved). The thing is with this is that at the moment I’m topping 400 spam comments a day (Jesus, I can remember when I got my first spam comment). There is no way I have the time nor inclination to plough back through that lot every day, other day or even week picking out the genuine comments.
So here’s the deal, if you’re good enough to leave a genuine comment here but don’t see it appear within a few hours please don’t be afraid to drop me a line using the contact form and tell me. Honestly if you can go to the effort to contribute the least I can do is approve it. I approve all genuine comments, even the ones that call me a tw……

Spam is a real nuisance, and spam filters tend to be quite aggressive sometimes, to the detriment of us genuine commenters, which can be quite discouraging.

We all do like to see people leave comments on our blogs/sites. It kind off makes you feel that you’re contributing to the community as well as reaching out to your visitors. Spammy comments are obvious and can be spotted by reading the first line. “Great post”,”Thanks for sharing” always the same bunch parading online.
|I always make out an hour a day to clear my spam filter.
