Does anybody use Kontera, have you been paid this month? I’m starting to get a little worried, my money normally hits my account by the 7th of the month at the very latest. Still no sign. I’ve written to them, no answer, yet! I’ve just signed in to see if there is any news on what’s going on and have found that their SSL security certificate has expired. Sure it only expired on the 11th of February but I’ve never known a company that wasn’t in some form of trouble let a security cert expire, be it only 1 day. Late payment and no security cert, hmmm…..
If anybody knows what’s going on at Kontera will you please leave a comment?

OK, I’m happy to wade in here. My own dip in Kontera impressions occured from the 9th to the 13th of February. It in no way matches any of the information that I’ve seen from the other advertising platforms on those pages and more importantly Google Analytics. However, everything does seem to be back to normal now.
It might be best to converse with Vered directly (he always does his best to help) with your questions but as far as I’m aware unless you’re tied into some sort of exclusive contract then it should be fine to remove the Kontera code from one of your websites in favour of another system. I wouldn’t like to guess about the split testing/geo trageting so probably best to ask Vered.

Thank you vered.
So I sum up below the answers (with my words), please keep in mind that I have a basic Kontera account on a network of sites:
- against Kontera TOS to do a split-test (in case you want to check an alternative like infolink or echotopic), do it on a new site.
- your Kontera contract is for the whole traffic of your site: so no way you can use Kontera for the USA and an alternative for Europe or elsewhere, it’s Kontera or nothing
- to stop kontera on a site of your network you must provide with a 30 days written(!) notice, even if other sites in the network still use kontera (not sure if by written they mean mail, or if email would be enough, if email isn’t enough i’d be dissapointed)
- a basic kontera account implies exclusivity: so you can’t sell your unsold inventory (but kontera asserts they’re filling most of the inventory).
I am assessing alternatives on new sites. But I think I’ll keep Kontera on most of my sites anyway because (even if I’m sad to see that Kontera does not offer the flexibility I wish) because Kontera does provide with a revenue nonetheless. And Kontera is more likely to survive if the recession was to hit harder than expected.
I believe more than ever that I should not put all of my eggs in one basket. I must diversify my income sources in all fields, that would be more secure!
Thanks to Vered and Paul!
Case closed for me.

Just one more thing:
About the 30 days written notice to take the tags out of a site of my network: Vered from Kontera is telling me that an email would be enough: the less hassle the more happy publisher I am.!

No payment for me either – this is the first time it has been late, and I can’t find anything on the net about this.
