So I’ve got a bit of free software that thanks to Microsoft is going to stop being so useful the end of this month (6 days, oh crap!) The problem I’ve got is that there are well over a million users of this free software, that’s quite a lot and far more than I can support at any one time. The plan is to release some new software that makes up for some of the short falls of the old software, the new software is going to be released yesterday to give people time to download and adjust…or not.
What a cracking time for my hosts to start playing silly buggers, so far I’m 2 days without the ability to upload new files. Even with all the announcements I’ve managed to put out over the last 6 weeks there are still going to be a lot of people on the 1st of July who are wondering what’s going on. I would guess that I’m going to get somewhere in the region of 15-20000 e-mails that day unless something changes quickly. To make things even more interesting I’m then away to Vegas for a week or so at the beginning of July. It’s the wife’s birthday and I’ve got to promise to do no work. It’s times like this that I wish I had a normal job, or maybe just somebody else to answer the e-mails!

Hi Paul,
Maybe it’s time for you to hire someone.

I really wish I could afford to, really I do! Because I give it away I don’t really make enough out of it to pay a wage. I get a bit through TrialPay and the advertising ads a bit but they’ve just upped the minimum wage over here to £6 an hour!
Maybe I should change my appeal to “hire Paul an assistant”?
Certainly hiring an assistant will cost you less than buying a new house, especially if you hire him/her part time.
