Indeed the domain has big importance, what gives more probabilities to those folks to win the contest is that the contest is long enough (2 months) to get their site enough time to get trusted by the search engines.

Apart that the domains were already registered :P I thought entering with a internal page would be better. I was still ranking on the second/third page thanks to the internal linking (and one or two inbound links from external pages) while the folks with the main domain in the first page had already build 30+ links.

Thanks for the pushup, we'll see how far I will go ;)
