Can anybody who can see my BlogRush widget down at the bottom right please speak up? Looks like its gone, that’s what I get for telling people how to cheat the system!
If there’s a blog out there that you don’t like that is currently running BlogRush then simply use one of the cheating tactics pointing at your targeted blog and have them struck of the BlogRush system. I didn’t see a warning or anything like that so it must be very straight forward to get people’s blogs banned. Now if I catch the little bugger that has done it to me…..

You might have noticed that I’ve finally got around to adding the Blog Rush widget to The Make Money Online Dot Net. I wasn’t fussed at all by this idea, to be honest showing untargeted links on any page is never likely to get you any traffic. Google spent a lot of time getting their content targeting down to a fine art, if for one minute broad range categories provided the same sort of CTR do you really think they’d have bothered? Not only are you not very likely to get little or no traffic from other websites but there is also the chance that you’ll upset your own visitors by bombarding them with unrelated content.
But in the interests of jumping on board a band-wagon I thought I’d give it a go. I’ll keep it a little out of the way for now until I’m sure that the content it’s showing is relevant. If it starts to generate traffic I’ll keep it.
Cheating Blog Rush
Programs like this are really easy to cheat. Any system that relies on impressions for reward is easy to cheat. It looks like everybody is cheating Blog Rush because even keeping in mind what I said above the click through rates being seen are appalling. Out of the 400 impressions I’ve had not 1 click.
Cheat no1. – Install this Firefox plug-in for Firefox that allows you to refresh a page automatically. Open your blog, or a page with the widget on and let it refresh all day automatically building up credits.
Cheat no2. – Put your widget code in a hidden div or iFrame on every website you own. For people with popular websites it’s a very quick way of building up credits.
Cheat no3. – Refer yourself several accounts. You can even stick the widget from different accounts on the same blog.
I don’t know why anybody would want to cheat the system, lets face it if everybody does it then all of our credits are being used on some hidden iFrame or only being viewed by an auto reloading browser, hence no click through rate. If Blog Rush is to grow then they’ve got to stop these tactics (and the many other cheats) being effective.

This whole blogging thing is proving to be a great learning experience. I guess that when you have something that you update so frequently the trends really start to jump out at you.
Today’s stand out stat has been Adsense and the fact that I’ve already blown away last months earnings in less than half a month. The next step is to look at how to explain this and then if possible to make sure the same improvement happens next month. This is where Google Analytics is great, a quick look at my all traffic sources report and I can see one thing that really stands out in coinciding with the extra Adsense money. Search engine traffic! As my website gets hit by more people direct from the search engines instead of coming via another website referral I’m really starting to see a much better CTR with Adsense. This was always something that surprised me about John Chow, he claimed to be earning so little from Adsense from such a huge number of visitors that it never made any sense to me. I could multiply his earnings by 3 on just one of my websites that probably received less than 10% of the traffic he gets. It makes sense now, a lot of his traffic appears to be regular/return visitors who have built up a blindness to his Adsense. This was even truer when he got slapped by Google.
It looks like the real key to succeeding with Adsense is to get that fresh search traffic. That’s good news for me because I’ve never really had a problem ranking my websites to get search traffic so I’m looking forward to seeing this figure grow each month. On the other side it looks like your return visitors are the ones most likely to sign up for affiliate deals and product recommendations so I might have to work a little at that, this month hasn’t been so hot so far!

If there’s one thing I hate more about a bank holiday weekend than being covered in cat crap, it’s the dip in internet traffic that always happens. The UK holds one of the largest internet user number groups and when a bank holiday comes around everybody flocks away from their computers leaving us money making machines with less traffic and less revenue. This weekend just passed was no different, I noticed a significant dip in UK visitor numbers starting on Friday and continuing all the way through to Monday.
I make just about enough money to not have to worry about looking at may day-to-day earnings, I don’t have to but I still do though and yesterday I was getting a little worried! There’s always the thought that maybe this dip is permanent and it won’t recover, to date it always has (touch wood). It was then that I decided to check another one of my sources of income, more out of desperation than anything, ClickBank. If you read my post about ClickBank you’ll know that I’m not a very good affiliate. In fact I’m rubbish. This is a valuable lesson in diversification though, because when I checked it this is what I saw:-

It’s amazing what a $133 ClickBank day will do to cheer you up! From a dismal weekend to an OK one all in one go, just because I don’t put all my eggs in one basket. Let this be a lesson to you, multiple sources of income is the key. Even better, multiple sites with multiple income streams. That’s how I conquered a bank holiday weekend disaster and you can too.
