The best fit services were easy, I just Googled searches taken from the most popular search phrases used to find my page. I went through the top websites and came up with a list of products that may appeal to my visitors. I then contacted each product author in turn to see if they'd be interested in buying an ad spot on a page that gets X number of visitors who are searching for phrases realting to their product. It really was as simple as that, on the second e-mail I got a hit.

I guess the real key is having pages that are popular enough to give real value to your advertiser, I can't imagine this working for sites that have few visitors.
