What Happens When You Remove Kontera?

Posted by Paul B | May 14, 2008 .

Kontera ads seem to have been a bit all over the place recently. To my untrained eye it looks like they’ve tied themselves into some quite large advertiser deals and the end result to many of us publishers has been less targeted ads and less money. I’m getting lass money per click and a lot less clicks from the same traffic. My earnings have taken a hit.

With this in mind I took the decision to go through a trial of removing them from The Make Money Online Dot Net as well as a couple of my content websites. Whilst I was prepared to do without the annoyance factor on the blog (for the sake of a few dollars) the reason for removing them from the content sites was to see what affect this would have on Adsense. When I first started using Kontera the affect was very minimally negative and more than made up with from my Kontera earnings. Having given it 20,000 impressions over the weekend, the affects of removing Kontera were not at all what I was expecting.

By taking away one option from my pages I was expecting to see the CTR rates of the other networks improve. Basically I was expecting to make a little more with Adsense. This didn’t happen. In fact strange as it might sound they decreased, quite a lot. So without further delay I’ve added Kontera back to those pages, I’m going to monitor the CTR of both networks very closely over the next few days but initial indications are that I’m already seeing a slightly increased CTR with Adsense. Weird, has anybody else experienced anything similar to this?

First of all, i gotta say, i like this layout much much better. Easy to read and easy on the eyes. will it affect your adsense?

which brings me to my second point, maybe because Kontera is so ugly it drives people to click on the adsense, kind of like the old BH neon colors trick.

which brings me to my third point, may be i should sign up for Kontera.

As of late Kontera ads have been loading slow on my websites. I have seen times where it takes more than 30 seconds to get the Kontera ads displayed. Thats not good at all! :(
